MSME Sector New Scheme: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the government’s MSME Competitiveness (LEAN) scheme is a part of its efforts to strengthen the MSME sector, which is a key pillar of India’s economic growth. Explain that the government on Friday launched the Modified MSME Competitiveness (LEAN) scheme to make it more beneficial for the industry and stakeholders. Under the restructured scheme, the Centre’s contribution will be 90 per cent of the cost of getting the work done for hand-holding and consultancy fees, as against 80 per cent earlier. Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane said that LEAN has the potential to become a national movement. It aims to provide a global competitiveness roadmap for MSMEs of India.

Ministry of MSME said that this scheme is a comprehensive campaign to create awareness about LAN manufacturing practices among MSMEs and motivate and encourage them to achieve LAN level by encouraging them to become MSME champions. Under this scheme MSMEs will implement Lean manufacturing tools like 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Visual Workplace and Poka Yoka under the able guidance of trained and competent LEAN consultants to achieve LEAN levels like basic, intermediate and advanced.
Jayant Murthy of Kaizen Institute told big step
Jayant Murthy, Joint Managing Director of the Kaizen Institute for South Asia and Africa, said that this new version of the MSME Lean Manufacturing scheme distinguishes itself by two key factors. Firstly it has been made quite systematic in its approach, be it a timeline fixed for MSMEs or the way it works in a phased manner. Second, it has come at a very opportune time for Indian MSMEs, as they look to export more in an increasingly slowing global market. Therefore LEAN can play an important role in enhancing their product and cost competitiveness. However, how much money can be earned from it will depend on the new roadmap created.
