A big rule is changing from January 1. If you are also one of those people who do not carry cash and mostly use online platforms for payment, then read this news carefully. In fact, after December 31, NPCI will block those IDs, which have not done any transaction in the last year.

National Payments Corporation of India has announced new guidelines that will deactivate your UPI ID. All banks and third-party apps like Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe are going to block those UPI IDs from which no transaction has been made for more than a year.

If your UPI ID is not credited or debited then the ID will be closed. Customers will not be able to transact from these IDs from the new year. NPCI has given time till December 31 to banks and third party apps to identify these UPI IDs. Your respective banks will send you a message via e-mail or SMS before closing your UPI ID.

NPCI hopes that these new rules will prevent money from being transferred to the wrong person's account. Many such cases have come to light in recent years. People often change mobile numbers without remembering to deactivate the UPI ID linked to the new phone.

Another person gets access to the number because it has been locked for a few days. However, only the previous UPI ID remains associated with this number. In such a case, the possibility of transaction increases significantly. After the new rule, the fear of this danger will be reduced in the new year.
