These two players will take their salary in bitcoin, will give more than 70 million bitcoins to the fans

NBA star players Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala have decided to take a part of their next salary in the form of bitcoin crypto token. Both players are part of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors team based in San Francisco. In addition, these basketball players have decided to donate $1 million (about Rs 7.38 crore) in bitcoin to the fans. This means that players will donate 23.70 bitcoin tokens, each of which is (currently) worth approximately $42,000 (approximately Rs 31.2 lakh). Thompson has given this information through his Twitter handle.

31-year-old Thompson, while giving this information to his 1.6 million followers, wrote in a tweet that Bitcoin Money is the future.

The NBA player also revealed that he has partnered with Iguodala, Jack Dorsey’s CashApp, to convert his salary into Bitcoin, which he can then donate to them.

Iguodala has also posted information about this bitcoin donation on his Twitter handle.

However, this is not the first time that NBA players and other athletes have demanded salaries in cryptocurrencies.

The Dallas Mavericks, the team of billionaire investor Mark Cuban, has also been accepting payments using digital assets through BitPay since 2019.

In May 2019, Russell Okung of the National Football League (NFL) became the first player to receive payment in bitcoin. His demand was fulfilled a year later in 2020.
