The benchmark Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange opened 129.78 points, or 0.23 per cent, higher at 57,682.17.
The wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty opened 36.60 points (0.21 per cent) higher at 17,168.80. In early trade, 1250 stocks rose, 439 stocks declined and 79 stocks remained unchanged. The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex had gained 795.40 points, or 1.43 per cent, last week. During the last session, the Sensex touched a record high of 57625.26 and the Nifty touched a record high of 17,153.50.
