The stock market touched 56,000 points for the first time on Wednesday. The Sensex had touched a one-time high of 56,118.57 points during the day’s trade. However, this was later denied. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty fell by 45.75 points, or 0.28 per cent, to close at 16,568.85. It also touched an all-time high of 16,701.85 points during the day’s trade. Among the Sensex companies, Kotak Bank fell the most at 2.09 per cent. ICICI Bank, Powergrid, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Maruti also closed lower. On the other hand, Ultratech Cement, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle India and Bajaj Auto rose 2.46 per cent.
