The people of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will not get relief from the cold wave for now. The Meteorological Department has issued a frost alert for 2 days in all the three places. Disaster management in Punjab is advising people not to venture out in the cold. There is morning fog in Chandigarh and Himachal. Morning visibility in Chandigarh is around 50 meters.

Visibility was recorded at 25 meters in Patiala, Punjab. Similarly, visibility in Amritsar remained at 50 meters. Weather is bad in 14 districts here. Among them, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Mansa, Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar are covered by dense fog.

Dense fog has engulfed 17 districts of Haryana. These include Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani and Charkhidadari. On Sunday morning, dense fog was seen in Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala falling on the GT belt. Visibility here is almost zero. Vehicles were seen moving slowly on National Highway-44.

A snowfall warning has been issued in the upper areas of Himachal Pradesh on January 16-17. If this happens, the winds coming from the mountains will be colder, making the people of the plains even colder. Due to this, the night temperature will drop drastically.
