The Governor of Punjab Banhwari Lal Purohit has refused to approve the convening of the budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha by the Bhagwant Mann Cabinet. The Governor has said that he will take a legal opinion on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s reply to the Governor’s letter dated 13 February 2023 before taking a decision on the same. This response was sent via tweet and also via written letter.
In the letter sent by the Governor to the Chief Minister, it is said that “The reply sent by you through tweet and letter is unconstitutional and also contains insulting language, so I am compelled to seek legal advice on this issue. I will decide on your request for session only after taking legal advice.”
