TET is not necessary to become a TGT-PGT teacher in this state

Teacher Recruitment: The state government has taken an important decision regarding the recruitment of teachers. According to which, it will not be necessary to pass the Teacher Eligibility Test i.e. TET exam to become a TGT-PGT teacher in the state. Assam government has taken this decision. According to which now the government will conduct the TET cum recruitment exam for the recruitment of PGT and TGT teachers in secondary schools. Through this, the government wants to ensure that the teachers are qualified in the respective subject.

It is worth mentioning that to become a teacher, it is necessary to pass the Teacher Eligibility Test. But graduate and post graduate teachers in Assam have been exempted from qualifying examination, which was earlier mandatory. In this regard, the Education Minister tweeted, ‘Cabinet has decided that TET will not be required for graduate and post graduate teachers of secondary schools. TET cum recruitment test will be conducted for secondary schools. The number of successful candidates will be equal to the number of vacancies.

The exam was held in April
Earlier on April 30, TET exam was conducted for the recruitment of lower primary and upper primary teachers in Assam. On the other hand, the registration for Special TET was done from March 5 to 25.
