New Delhi: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at a guard post at the Intelligence Bureau (IB) director’s residence here. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police team reached the spot. The reason behind the young man’s suicide is not yet clear. The police is investigating the matter

A senior police officer said that the incident took place around 4 pm on Friday. He said the victim has been identified as 53-year-old Rajbir Singh, who was manning a guard post at the IB director’s residence. According to the official, Singh’s postmortem will be done on Saturday, after which his body will be handed over to his relatives.

Presently the police is investigating in this matter. The firing at the residence of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) director sent shockwaves among others present at the residence. Earlier it seemed that there was some kind of attack. But it was soon learned that a jawan had shot himself with his gun and committed suicide. As soon as the police got information about the incident, the police reached the spot. The dead body was sent to the hospital for PM after doing panchnama.
