Strict action taken against errant B.Ed and Law colleges

Punjab B.Ed and Law colleges: Punjabi University has taken concrete and bold steps in its continuous fight against malpractices within its affiliated Colleges of Education and Law. Punjabi University College Development Council Dean Dr Gurpreet Singh Lahil revealed that several complaints have been received against colleges for absentee mode or working without approved faculty members. From which an unannounced inspection of these institutions was done.

SS Girls College for Education, Bhikhi has been banned from admitting students in all entry level classes due to running without any approved faculty and various other irregularities. In addition, during these inspections, six colleges were found to have little or no faculty or students. These six colleges are: Asra College of Education Bhawanigarh, Guru Nanak College of Education Samaon, Swami Vivekananda College of Education Munak, Mata Gurdev Kaur Memorial Educational Institute Breta, Milkha Singh Educational Institute Breta and Malwa College of Training and Education Malakpur Khyala. Taking decisive action, Punjabi University issued stern warnings to the colleges and reduced the number of student seats in them from 200/100 seats to 50 seats.

Similarly, the university took strict action against Nancy College of Law in Samana and Aryan’s Law College in Rajpura, which were functioning without any approved faculty member, giving a stern warning to rectify the situation before the commencement of the next academic session. By reducing their admission, the seats were halved.

Dr. Lahil further said that the concrete actions taken by the university during the last two years have resulted in B.Ed. The prevalence of absentee students and paperless faculty in colleges has been curbed to a great extent. He also lauded the Association of Education Colleges affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, who encouraged their colleagues to run the colleges in attending schools.

Dr. Lahil admitted that on a personal level, the task was not without its challenges, as he had to face immense pressure from the education mafia, which filed several false complaints against him and continued to intimidate and harass him. keep trying
