Special operation to review the security of Banks & Financial Institutions: : Stepping up vigilance around banks and other financial institutions across Punjab, the Punjab Police has searched 3947 suspicious persons roaming around such institutions in urban and rural areas. Following the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, Punjab Police on Wednesday launched a special drive to check suspicious persons roaming around banks and other financial institutions.

The operation was conducted in all the 28 police districts of the state and the CPJs/SSPs were directed to personally supervise the operation and form adequate number of police teams to carry out the operation.

Giving information in this regard, Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that 422 police parties involving more than 2000 police personnel under the supervision of SPJ/DSPJ searched for suspicious persons roaming around financial institutions, especially banks. . Police teams checked 3618 such establishments on Wednesday.

He said that the main purpose of carrying out this operation is to create fear of the police among the anti-social elements and to instill a sense of security among the common people.

The Special DGP said that all the police teams were asked to be gentle while identifying people and ensure minimum inconvenience to the general public.

He reiterated that such actions will continue to make Punjab a crime-free state.
