Punjab Special DGP Shashi Prabha Dwivedi conducted a surprise inspection of Amritsar Central Jail on Tuesday. During the inspection, he questioned the prisoners and took stock of the jail arrangements. He told that in the last one month, 75 mobiles and 37 SIMs from jail

Special DGP along with Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and other senior police officers were also present during the inspection. DGP Dwivedi said that this inspection is part of the anti -drug campaign of the Punjab government. Under this campaign, due to operation, red and surprise inspections are being done. He said that the impact of the government’s strictness has started showing.

Mobile reaches methods revealed The DGP also revealed ways to reach mobile in jail. He said that most of the mobiles are either thrown from the top of the prison wall or are transported inside through visitors. The prisoners are aware of the places in the jail where mobile jammers do not work. They go to these places and use the phone.

Constant efforts to prevent drug addiction Officials assured that the jammer problem would be resolved soon. The DGP said that continuous efforts are being made to prevent drug addiction and their positive results are also coming out. The jail administration and police departments are working together to deal with this problem. The situation is improving with regular check -up and strict monitoring.
