Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan advocated for better coordination among Commonwealth countries on political issues

Amidst the ongoing spat with Canada, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan today emphasized on better coordination between the Commonwealth countries on some political issues.

During the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Ghana, the Speaker said that some issues have been raised with unnecessary arguments. Without naming any country, he said that this trend should be stopped at the beginning with better coordination between Commonwealth countries. Kultar Singh Sandhawan said that these unjustified issues create a barrier in an environment conducive to coexistence.

The speaker further said that the whole world is facing major environmental challenges and together we (Commonwealth countries) are bringing changes in the society to create a sustainable environment for all. He said that it is the responsibility of the developed countries to play a leading role on this issue.

On this occasion, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan paid obeisance at the local Gurdwara Sahib and also met the migrant Punjabis.

It is worth noting that the annual event Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) brings together parliamentarians from Commonwealth countries on one platform to discuss and reach consensus on global political issues. It is to be noted that Canada first joined the British Commonwealth as an independent state in 1931.
