The Spanish Civil Guard has announced that through the Yunus operation it has arrested nine people for committing more than a hundred frauds related to the regularisation of the situation of irregular immigrants.

Through a statement issued yesterday, February 19, the Ministry of the Interior of Spain said that the same group benefited between โ‚ฌ500 to โ‚ฌ700 for the processing of the registration of townhouses in the Foral Community of Navarre, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

โ€œThe organisation recruited migrants who needed to regularise their situation in Spain and who were residing irregularly in Europe. In exchange for an economic consideration, they fraudulently processed the registration. For this, the organisation had a network that captured, transferred and accompanied the victims to carry out the procedures,โ€ the statement reads.

According to the Ministry, the head of the criminal organisation has been detained without bail. The same has also served as a point of contact between members of the criminal group and immigrants interested in fixing their situation.

In addition, from the total of 100 registered frauds, an amount of โ‚ฌ60,000 was profited by this group.

After the migrant had accepted the price to pay for registration, the rest of the members received instructions from the leader of the organisation to perform the service. They also had a network of owners who provided their home as a residence to be placed on the census.

The Ministry has also revealed that during the arrest of nine nationals in the Foral Community of Navarre and La Rioja, the Civil Guard also seized cell phones and documentation for the investigation, as well as cash.

Operation Yunus was carried out by agents of the Civil Guard from the Information Headquarters (UCE3), the Information Groups from the Commands of Navarre and La Rioja, the Rapid Action Group and the Civil Security Unit of Navarre.

The investigation was directed by the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 of Estella in coordination with the Delegated Prosecutor for Immigration in Navarre.

Previously, on February 9 of this year, the Spanish Police also detained three people after it was discovered that they were forging all kinds of travel documents and thus facilitating irregular migration.

As the Ministry explains, the three arrested persons at the time were of three different nationalities โ€“ Roma, Moroccan and Spanish.

The same emphasised that the arrested persons belonged to a criminal organisation that also possessed weapons and was involved in crimes against public health.
