Through operation Goverla-Sur, the Spanish Civil Guard has arrested ten people who were suspected of seven robberies in the houses of Ukrainian refugees in the provinces of Alicante and Murcia.

In a statement issued on March 3, the Ministry of the Interior of Spain said that during this operation, money and various things in the amount of €1,250,000 were seized, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

According to the Ministry, those arrested were of Russian and Ukrainian nationality. The same said that this operation started in the middle of last year when investigators learned about several forced robberies in houses in Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa.

The criminal organisation cooperated with a couple of Russian nationalities and their son, who provided the means with which they carried out the monitoring and travelled to the apartments to carry out the robberies even in the middle of the day.

The investigators conducted seven inspections in which $92,700 and €92,065 were involved, high-value jewellery pieces and accessories such as watches, bags, perfumes, glasses, etc.

At the end of last month, the Spanish national police dismantled a criminal organisation and simultaneously arrested six people who were trafficking migrants between Algeria and Spain in the province of Alicante.

In this regard, the Ministry emphasised that the organisation was transferring migrants by fibre boats from the North African country to the coasts of Murcia and Alicante, while from there to other parts of Spain by land transport.

As the Ministry explains, for the boat trip, the immigrants were obliged to pay an amount of €300, another €300 to be picked up on the coast and €400 more for the transfer to other points.

In February, the Civil Guard also arrested nine more people for committing more than a hundred frauds related to the regulation of the situation of irregular immigrants.

The Ministry revealed at the time that this group has benefited from €500 to €700 to process the registration of city dwellings in the Foral Community of Navarre.

At the beginning of February, three people suspected of forging all kinds of travel documents and facilitating irregular migration were detained. According to the Ministry, the persons in question were Roma, Moroccan and Spanish citizens.

Furthermore, the Ministry pointed out that the arrested belonged to a criminal organisation, which, in addition to forging documents and facilitating irregular migration, possessed weapons and was involved in crimes against public health.
