The full form of SMPS is Switch Mode Power Supply. It is also called Switching-Mode Power Supply. It is mostly used in electronic devices. A special type of SMPS is used in the computer, which sends different voltage voltages to different parts of the CPU.

SMPS is an electronic power supply that uses a variety of switching devices to transfer electrical energy from a source to a load. Usually the source is AC or DC and the load is DC. If the voltage is low, then the SMPS increases the voltage and if the voltage is high, it reduces it. It maintains steady on 220 voltage only.
How SMPS works?
Different SMPS work in different ways but we are telling you about a normal SMPS which converts Ac to Dc. Usually the SMPS that comes in it converts AC to DC. First of all AC comes to SMPS through power supply cable, which properly analyze the components inside SMPS and check the voltage. After that the current goes into the Rectifier.
Rectifier does operations from 120 V. to 240 V. at a time. It produces Dc current from Ac current. After that the current is sent to the capacitor. This current is divided into small units in the form of pulse and then DC current is regulated, ie Direct Current (Dc) is checked by regulation process. It is measured by Reference Voltage.
Why SMPS is necessary
SMPS is such a system through which we supply power to electronics devices. SMPS is very important for all our electronics devices. It supplies power to all electronics devices as per their requirement. The best function of SMPS is that it also fulfills the shortage of low power and its transformer is small and light due to which it does not heat up quickly.
Due to SMPS power supply, such as freeze, TV, computer, Microwave Oven, CD player etc. do not get damaged quickly. No matter how irregular the input voltage is, but the SMPS keeps the output voltage stable.
