This time you have brought the song ‘Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji’ for your fans. What is the feeling?
I feel very good. This is a thinking, which is inside me long ago. When I did the film ‘Tanaji Unsang Warrior’, then this feeling increased further. Wherever I got the opportunity, I have said this. Then a chance came when Abhishek Thakur and Kashish Music told me that they are making a song over Maharaj. Would I like to be a part of it? I quickly said yes.
I want Maharaj’s image and his personality to reach every corner of the country. He also has many followers outside the country, who follow his education, this song reached him. Now the need of time is that we should have a feeling like Maharaj for our country and history. In such a situation, it is just my small effort. Kailash Kher has very beautifully sung this song.
This song of Sharad has received more than 6.4 million views so far.
I remember when I used to study in school, Shivaji Maharaj had just a small chapter. Recently, I went to the state government and told him that if there is a complete book of Chhatrapati Shivaji in our textbook, then we will all get a lot of inspiration from it.
Viewers become emotional after seeing their glorious history on screen. When you were doing this song, there was an emotional moment?
I have also said earlier that when I did ‘Tanaji Unsang Warrior’, I did not play that role, but it happened. Whenever we remember our old work, we miss many things related to the set. It also includes challenges. But I do not remember that something like this must have happened on Tanaji’s set. The director would give me the character’s briefing and I used to do it. Perhaps, I was blessed by Maharaj.
Something similar happened in this song. We shot it in the first week of April. Usually the heat is not much in April but there was too much heat at that time. In the scorching sun, we were all shooting on stone ground in the open. Without any interruption, the entire team completed the song in two days. I believe that Maharaj is blessed.
What is the most lovely completion of the song ‘Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji’?
Compliances for this song were found. It is such that if I am not satisfied with my work, then no praise seems good. If I get happiness by doing some work, then I consider it success. I enjoyed doing this song very much. After the song, the people who have met the response are relaxing the heart.
Till now you have played the character of Maharaj on the screen cameo or side. The audience wants to see you in Maharaj’s lead role.
I would like to do such a thing. I do not know what is preventing the producer, writer or director from doing so. I look forward to Whenever I get a chance, I will definitely play the character of Maharaj.

Maharaj has so many heroic stories. Which part of Shauryagatha is closest to your heart?
Maharaj had valor in the personality. He had a strong love for the country, a feeling of Swaraj. I think there was nothing more than this. But one of his quality which looks best. He was a very good strategist. The dialogue of a film is that if you cannot face the enemy and do not accept their defeat, then you should be reconciled. Somewhere there was inside them that I have to save the kingdom with myself. Used to reconcile to save life, then he would come out of that situation.
I think this quality of them should be about life inside all of us. There should be no sense of pride, malice. We all should make such a strategy that the time is not good today, when the time comes tomorrow, we will see it.
Stories related to their soil are getting a lot of love from the audience. Do you think more films should be made on the great personalities of the country?
Yes, exactly it should be made. Our history is very old. In such a situation, why should we stay the committee for only 300-400 years? Whether the generation of today should be known through books, plays or films. This Jane Alpha Generation, needs to understand how glorious our history is. They should know who was participation in that history, due to which he is living such a good life today.
Apart from Chhatrapati Maharaj, what are the people who should make biography on them and you would like to work in it?
I had a chance but could not become it. Maharana was going to be a series on Pratap. I also went to meet director Nitin Desai. Today he is not among us. When he called me for that role, just two days before that someone sent a sketch of Maharana Pratap with my face. Which I also showed them. I would like to play the role of Maharana Pratap.
Have you now become a little selective about project selection?
You know that similar opportunities are less for a good character. If I start doing such a role that I have made my home or made a property, then there is no use of being an actor. I know that I will not be happy to do such things. If I want to do something in the acting field, then I have to be a little selective. In such a situation, you can call me a choice. I also select the favorite work in the limited option.
Your voice from ‘Bahubali’ has settled in people’s minds. The actor coming from outside in the industry gets a tag. Has the same happened to you?
It’s not like that. Many actors have come from outside and they are doing well. I believe in luck. I am at a good place today, apart from my hard work, luck is also a hand. I think the business model that is going on right now, the day the condition of the industry will improve. The day I start making films, I will do my account. I will not work in someone’s pressure or greed. I will bring changes on my behalf instead of bringing changes in others.

What is your ambition at the moment as an actor?
The history of Maharaj has been a desire for a long time about his stories. Recently there has been a lot of development related to him. Many writers are bringing a lot of detail research on them. We are all trying to weave those stories. If you are together, I will definitely plan a long series. I will do it by myself because no one else is showing faith in me. I believe in myself and I will be doing it.
