The defamation case between Kangana Ranot and Javed Akhtar for the last 5 years ended on February 28. Kangana has apologized to Javed Akhtar in this case. But now Shabana Azmi’s reaction has come to light on this matter.
Javed wanted to apologize to Kangana- Shabana
Shabana Azmi recently interacted with Bollywood Hungama and said, ‘Javed Akhtar wanted, Kangana Ranot apologized in writing. The victory is of Javed and his lawyer Jai Bhardwaj. I am surprised by why the media showed it as if there was a mutual agreement. While he did not say that he was apologizing and he fought this case for five years.
There was a reconciliation between the two on 28 February
On 28 February, Kangana shared a story on social media platform Instagram. Kangana wrote, ‘Today and Javed ji reconciled in the defamation case. Javed ji is very good and he has also yes to write songs for the next film as a director.
Kangana had said- she will not make such a statement further
One hour hearing went on in Bandra’s court. During this time both were present in the court. Runot’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiki and Akhtar’s lawyer Jai Kumar Bhardwaj made arguments. The reconciliation was caused by a mediator. Runot said, ‘The statement at that time was given due to a misunderstanding. I take it back. ‘ Siddhiki said, ‘We have been looking for mediation for a long time. We also shared the drafts with each other. Eventually, we resolved the matter. There was no problem, just the words had to be decided, which was done today. We prepared a draft, signed it and both cases were withdrawn today.
Javed filed a case in the year 2020
Javed filed a defamation case against the actress in 2020. Actually, the actress had said in an interview, “Javed had asked him to compromise with Rakesh Roshan and his family during the film Krish 3.” During that time there was a dispute over Kangana and Hrithik’s affair.

- 2020: Kangana Ranot called Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar and Javed Akhtar in an interview to a TV channel after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. After some time, Kangana had said for Javed Akhtar in an interview to Pinkvilla that when he and Hrithik Roshan had a dispute, Javed had called him home and threatened him. He said, ‘Javed told me that Rakesh Roshan and his family are very powerful. If you do not apologize to them, then you will not have any place to escape. They will put you in jail and you will not have any other option but to suicide. He was shouting very fast saying this and I was trembling in fear.
- November 2020: After Kangana’s statement came out, Javed Akhtar filed a complaint against her under Section 499 (defamation) of the IPC.
- November 2020: Kangana has a counter case on him after Javed Akhtar’s complaint.
- December 2020: Javed Akhtar recorded his statement in this case. In the statement, Javed said that Kangana falsely accused him without any evidence.
