SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami met the hanged convict Balwant Singh Rajoana in Patiala Jail. Talking to the journalists after a meeting of about two hours, President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Rajoana has spoken about going on a hunger strike if the mercy petition is not withdrawn, which has been discussed for a long time. Many suggestions have also been given by Rajoana. Advocate Dhami said that an immediate decision will be taken by calling a meeting of the SGPC executive. This issue will also be discussed in the core committee of Shiromani Akali Dal. He said that it is unfortunate that no decision has been taken by the central government regarding the petition for nearly 12 years.

Balwant Singh Rajoana was met by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhamiji, General Secretary Rajinder Singh Mehtaji, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka during which Rajoana handed over a letter. Rajoana said that today he is sitting in the gallows for the last 17 years waiting for his decision.

Rajoana said to the SGPC President that the responsibility of the President Sri Akal Takht Sahib to fulfill the national duty in the case related to my hanging according to the sentiments of the entire Khalsa Panth was imposed on the leaders of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Shiromani Akali Dal. Today, even after 11 years and 8 months, it could not be completed.

The Shiromani Akali Dal leaders could not take a decision on this appeal despite being partners in the central government. Therefore, the leaders of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Shiromani Akali Dal should stand before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and apologize to the entire Khalsa panth for not being able to fulfill their duties in this matter.

Rajoana has requested the President to withdraw the appeal immediately as he now wants to be freed from the tortuous and fraudulent nature of the trial formalities in this case. Otherwise, we will be forced to go on a hunger strike from December 5 to withdraw this appeal. All responsibility for this will be yours.
