Second blow to PAK ex-PM, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi 14 years in jail in Toshakhana case

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are in big trouble. Both have been sentenced to 14 years by the court in the Toshakhana case. This information is given in a report by a Pakistani news channel, in which it is stated that the couple has been sentenced to imprisonment and hard labour.

The court also barred the couple from holding public office for 10 years and imposed a Pakistani fine of Rs 78.70 crore on them.

This is the second blow to Imran Khan in two consecutive days. A day ago, on Tuesday, the special court of Pakistan in the Sifar case sentenced Imran Khan and the former foreign minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood, to 10 years in the Sifar case. Imran Khan married Bushra Bibi in 2018, a few months before he was elected the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Bushra was also in police remand during the entire hearing of this case.

In the Toshakhana case, Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court himself arrived to pronounce the sentence to Imran Khan, who is imprisoned in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. However, Bushra Bibi did not appear in court.

What is the Toshakhana case?
Former Prime Minister Imran is accused of violating the rules in the Toshakhana (State Store) case. Gifts received from foreign leaders are kept in Toshakhana. According to Toshakhane rules, government officials can keep gifts only after paying the price. The gift must first be deposited in the Toshakhane. Imran Khan and his wife are accused of using their power to keep the gifts at a low price.

This case is different from other Toshakhana cases in the country. In this, Imran Khan was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan. He was later convicted of concealing income from the sale of government gifts. Imran's disqualification was later overturned by the Islamabad High Court.
