Indian is a country with a middle class population. There is no doubt about the fact that more two-wheelers are sold in the country than cars. Less than 3 lakh cars are sold every month in the country, while more than 10 lakh two-wheelers are sold. So the difference in sales between car and two wheeler is more than 3 times. But if asked who sells more in the two wheeler segment, scooters and bikes? SIAM, the association of vehicle manufacturers in the country, has released the figures for February, in which it has become clear that there are more sales in scooters and bikes.

Bikes sell twice as much as scooters

For the last 20 years, there has been a revolution of scooters in the country. Brands like Activa and Scooty have re-founded scooters in the market. But still the charm of the bike remains. Talking about February, total two-wheeler sales increased by eight percent to 11,29,661 units. In February last year, 10,50,079 two-wheelers were sold. It has motorcycle sales of 7,03,261. While 6,58,009 bikes were sold in the previous month. While talking about scooters, its sales in the country increased from 3,56,222 units to 3,91,054 units in the month of February. Three-wheeler sales grew by 86 percent to 50,382 units.

How many cars are sold in the country

Indian vehicle manufacturers wholesaled around 2.92 lakh passenger vehicles (PVs) in February 2023. This is the highest sales ever. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said that the overall passenger vehicle sales increased during the month due to increased demand for cars and utility vehicles. Last month, automakers supplied 2,91,928 vehicles to dealers. This is 11 percent more than the 2,62,984 units supplied in February 2022. On the other hand, sales of passenger cars increased to 1,42,201 units in the month of February. In the same period a year ago, 1,33,572 units were sold. Similarly, sales of utility vehicles, including sports utility vehicles (SUVs), increased to 1,38,238 units from 1,20,122 units last month.

Which company sold how many cars

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) dispatched 1,02,565 units to dealers last month. This is three percent more than February 2022’s 99,398 units. Whereas Hyundai Motor India (HMI) sold 24,493 units last month. The company had sold 21,501 units in the same month a year ago. SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said this is the highest ever sales of passenger vehicles in February. SIAM President Vinod Agarwal said that the sentiment in the market remains positive.
