Sharing information about this, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau here today said that Jagdish Singh Johal had played an important role in approving illegal payments on the basis of the assessment report of the Horticulture Department, despite the fact that the names of the land owners and the portion of the land were not correct according to the revenue records.

The spokesman said that during interrogation, both these accused patwaris revealed that initially they had refused to verify the names of the land owners and the land share as shown in the Horticulture Department’s assessment report as these were different from the real owners and their land share as per the land records.

He alleged that the accused Jagdish Singh Johal, using his bribe, pressured him to prepare a noting for approving the payments as per the assessment report of the Horticulture Department by ignoring the revenue records. Thus he issued compensation to the incompetent landowners. It is proposed to refer their land pooling case to court due to unauthorized purchase.

The spokesperson further said that after oral, circumstantial and documentary evidence against Jagdish Singh Johal, the Vigilance Bureau has registered this PCS. The officer has been named as an accused in this scam case and has been arrested today from Mohali. Apart from this, the role of other concerned officials is also being investigated.
