Reliance Jio’s top position in the wireline segment, the company added about three lakh new customers

The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio has secured the first position in the wireline segment by adding 2,92,411 new subscribers in December. The telecom subscriber base grew marginally to over 117 crore in December on the back of a rise in fixed line connections.

Reliance Jio has a major contribution in the growth of this segment. The company has added 2,92,411 new customers in December. The number of landline subscribers of Bharti Airtel has increased by 1,46,643. State-run telecom company BSNL has added 13,189 subscribers. The maximum reduction in the number of fixed line customers has been for MTNL. The company lost 1,10,168 customers in December, while Vodafone Idea lost 15,920 customers. Apart from this, 6,292 fixed line customers of Reliance Communications and 5,849 of Tata Teleservices have decreased.

The mobile subscriber base fell marginally to 1149 million customers in December. Vodafone Idea has lost the maximum 24.7 lakh customers in this segment. Two big companies of telecom sector Bharti Airtel And Reliance Jio has set a target of converting 150 million mobile phone users to 5G by March next year. Both these companies are increasing their 5G coverage.

The tariff for this high-speed service may also be increased. Executives and analysts associated with the telecom industry say that the next financial year will bring a big change for telecom companies. Along with increasing the scope of their 5G service, these companies will also focus on improving their network. These companies can invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the next financial year. Reliance Jio’s 5G has reached 236 cities in the country. Last month, Bharti Airtel introduced a new entry-level plan of Rs 155 in seven regions. Due to this, the basic tariff of the company has increased by about 57 percent. This plan is for seven regions including Karnataka, Bihar and Rajasthan.
