Recommendation to increase participation of women in security forces

[ad_1]

Women in Central Armed Security Forces: The participation of women in the central armed security forces is not even 4 percent. The Standing Committee of Parliament had recommended in 2011 that the number of women in the Central Armed Security Forces should be increased to five per cent within three years, but despite many efforts in these 12 years, the number of women has not yet reached four per cent. This revelation has been made by no one else but another parliamentary committee.

Recently, a report in this regard was presented in the Parliament. Let’s know how many women are currently deployed in all central armed security forces including BSF. This is the situation when the Central Reserve Police Force raised its first female battalion in Delhi in 1986. After that, the process of forming female battalions in different parts of the country continues. Along with this, the participation of women in American security forces is 16 percent, 10 percent in Russia and 5 percent in China.

This is the state of women empowerment in the security forces when it comes to their equal participation everywhere. According to the recommendations of the parliamentary committee, if the recruitment of women from the villages is encouraged, positive results can be seen.

How much participation of women?

According to the report, the participation of women in the central armed security forces is only 3.65 percent as of September 30, 2022. A maximum of 6.35 per cent women are in the CISF. In ITBP, this number is 2.83 percent. This percentage is relatively less in CISF and BSF. Amid slogans of women empowerment, the report also reveals that there is no special reservation for women in the central armed security forces. This picture of neglect emerged when the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women Empowerment in 2011 recommended to the government to reduce the number of women in the central security forces to five per cent within three years.
