India’s experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been declared fit to play in the first Test against Australia in Nagpur starting on February 9. According to a report by the Cricket News website on Thursday, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has released Jadeja’s fitness report on Wednesday and cleared him to play.

Jadeja will now leave for Nagpur, where the Indian team will train for a four-day camp before the start of the first Test. Importantly, Jadeja played his last match for India in the Asia Cup in August 2022. The 34-year-old Saurashtra all-rounder had to undergo an operation on a knee injury, which kept him out of cricket for five months. Jadeja returned to the cricket pitch representing Saurashtra in the Ranji match played from 24–27 January.

Jadeja bowled 41.4 overs in this match and took seven wickets in the second innings as well, after which he was cleared to play international cricket. The first match of the four-match series between India and Australia will be played in Nagpur from February 9, while the remaining three matches will be played in Delhi, Dharamshala and Ahmedabad respectively. It is important for India to win this Test series to make it to the World Test Championship.
