Punjab's Chief Electoral Officer has given all Deputy Commissioners a target of “70 over” vote percentage this time

Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab Sibin C. He held an important meeting today through video conferencing with all the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of the state regarding the preparations for the Lok Sabha Elections-2024. He urged all Deputy Commissioners to achieve the target of “70 Par” vote percentage this time.

Sibin c. Said that all the Deputy Commissioners should intensify their efforts to cast more than 70 percent votes. He said that out of the 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab during the previous elections, the areas where the vote percentage was decreasing, work should be done to increase the vote percentage there by marking those areas.

He said that the help of publicity mobile vans, awareness campaigns and other means sent by the Election Commission should be taken to achieve this goal. He directed that the activities to increase the vote percentage should be accelerated. People should be encouraged to use voting rights as much as possible.

He further said that any type of complaint received during the election days should be resolved within the time limit set by the Election Commission of India. He said that all the districts should hold meetings with the representatives of political parties from time to time and let them know about the rules and instructions of the Election Commission, this will reduce the complaints.

The Chief Electoral Officer asked the Deputy Commissioners to check the votes of the important people of the district to see if the votes have been forged or not so that there is no problem during the election process. He said that in order to conduct the elections smoothly, the Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) of all 117 assembly constituencies of Punjab have been trained at Chandigarh and Amritsar from February 12 to 16.

Sibin c. Also urged all the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers to conduct the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in a fair and transparent manner. He reviewed all aspects related to the elections and sought their feedback and views from the DCs. Most of the Deputy Commissioners said that the election preparations are complete and in the districts which have some deficiency, they assured to remove it soon.

During the meeting, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Kaplish and other senior officials of the CEO office were present.
