Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Friday that medical education will be promoted in the state. He said that Punjab will be developed as a center of medical education. During the centenary celebrations of Amritsar, the Chief Minister said that the state government is already doing a lot of work in this direction. There is no dearth of funds. No stone will be left unturned in carrying out this noble cause. Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab has a lot of potential in this field. Medical tourism is being developed in the state.

He said that a big budget has been arranged to promote medical education in Punjab. Bhagwant Mann said that its aim is to revolutionize the health and education sector in Punjab.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the Punjab government will take a new initiative to provide door-to-door civil services to the people from November 27 on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary. He said that under this campaign, 40 to 42 services will be provided to people in their homes without any trouble. Bhagwant Mann said that this will provide great convenience to the people and they will not have to go around government offices for these services.

The Chief Minister of Punjab said that it has been decided to implement the scheme of home delivery of wheat and flour for the poor of the state on the occasion of Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 27. About 1.42 crore beneficiaries of the state will be able to get flour at home through this scheme. The government will distribute 72500 metric tons of ration every month under this scheme. According to the draft of the scheme, wheat has been distributed for the period from October to December under the National Food Security (Safety) Act and its distribution among the beneficiaries has also started.

‘There will be a new beginning in Punjab from 26 January 2024’

The Chief Minister also announced that from January 26, 2024, all tehsil and district level hospitals in Punjab will be equipped with X-ray machines. He said that this facility will be provided in all hospitals from the coming Republic Day and operators will also be posted to operate these machines. Bhagwant Mann said that all the medicines prescribed by the doctors will now be available within the hospitals. With which the looting of people will also stop.

The Chief Minister said that through Aam Aadmi Clinics, new opportunities are being created for the youth to work in the medical field. He said that world class treatment and testing facilities are being provided free of cost to the people in these clinics. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these clinics are also helping the government in preparing a database to prevent various diseases spreading in the state.

‘Now there is no need to go abroad for medical studies’

The Chief Minister further said that to promote medical education in Punjab, the state government has decided to open 16 new medical colleges in the next five years, which will take the total number of medical colleges in Punjab to 25 and will be opened in Punjab. The service of medical college will be restored in every district of the state. He said that one such medical college in Hoshiarpur will be dedicated to the people on Saturday.

The Chief Minister said that students aspiring to acquire medical education will no longer need to go abroad as they will be provided quality medical education in these medical colleges. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the previous governments did not pay any attention to this aspect but his government is doing this work.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is committed to the welfare of the people. He said that this work cannot be completed without the active support of people from all sections of the society. Before this, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh welcomed all the guests.
