Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given an open challenge to the President of Congress, Akali Dal and BJP. Mann has given an open invitation to BJP President Sunil Jakhar, Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and Raja Waring-Pratap Singh Bajwa of Congress. After this statement of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the politics of Punjab has heated up.

Punjab Congress has accepted this challenge of Chief Minister Hon. Senior leader of Punjab Congress and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa said that this debate should not be held in the government building (Vidhan Sabha) but in a common common place. In a tweet, Bajwa said that

Bhagwant Maan I accept your challenge.

This debate should not be held in a government building (Parliament) but in a common common place. The debate should be led by a retired judge of the honorable Supreme Court of the country or a person on whom the 4 political parties agree. He said that ensure that every media channel will cover this debate and KG media will not have control over the cameras like in the assembly session.

Punjab Congress President Raja Waring has asked some questions in response to this challenge of Hon. Waring tweeted that Hon’ble Chief Minister Sir, in the last one and a half years, whenever you have been asked a question or given any advice, you often create such a discussion to divert attention from the issue. Waring said that it would be good if you hold a meaningful discussion with the leaders of all parties and farmers’ organizations to discuss the issue of SYL.

He said that in a democracy, the opposition and the people ask questions to the ruling government, but your government is a government of ‘change’, that’s why you ask questions to the opposition. Sir! To make the debate meaningful and to make the true state of the state public before the people, I request you to make the answers to my following questions available to the people of Punjab:-

  1. At what rate have the criminal cases in Punjab increased in a year and a half?
  2. What is the increase in drugs in Punjab and how many of our youth have died due to drugs.
  3. How much has Punjab’s debt increased?
  4. How many farmers have committed suicide in Punjab during the last year and a half?
  5. During your tenure, in which departments have you recruited new recruits by advertising?
  6. How much money have you spent on advertisements from the Punjab treasury?
  7. How much total money did you give to the flood victims? How much compensation has been given to the farmers per acre?

After making these facts public we accept your proposal. Earlier, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar had responded to this statement. Jakhar had said that we are always ready for every debate. Jakhar targeted Chief Minister Mann and said why did you kneel on the serious issue of Punjab’s waters.

Let it be known that today Chief Minister Mann has asked the state presidents of BJP, Akali Dal and Congress to hold a live debate instead of daily quarrels. Mann had tweeted that ‘My open invitation to BJP president Jakharji, Sukhbir Singh Badal of Akali Dal and Raja Waring-Pratap Bajwa of Congress is that instead of the daily kich kich, come and sit in front of the Punjabis and the media. Who has robbed us so far, brothers-nephews, brothers-in-law, friends, mulahze, toll plazas, youth farmers, business-shopkeepers, gurus’ words, water of canals… Let’s debate live on all issues…

You can also bring paper with you but I will speak verbally.. November 1st ‘Punjab Day’ will be fine.. You will also get time for preparation.. I am fully prepared because you don’t have to make any excuses to speak the truth.
