A bus belonging to a private company fell into Sirhind canal near village Jhabelwali on Kotakpura road in Muktsar, Punjab. Police and administration have reached the spot. Eight people have died in this accident. It has been officially confirmed. 11 people have been injured in this accident, out of which 2 have been discharged from the hospital after treatment. While 40 passengers have been rescued. There were 60-65 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident.

The incident took place around 1 pm on Tuesday. The cause of the accident has not yet been ascertained. It is being told that the speed of the bus was high at the time of the accident. The bus broke the iron grill on the bank of the canal and fell into the canal. SSP Harmanbir Singh Gill and police from different police stations went to the spot and started relief operations. Constituency MLA Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar has also reached the spot. The bus was going from Muktsar to Kotakpura.

CM Mann tweeted his grief

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has tweeted about the Muktsar accident. He wrote that the sad news of a private bus falling into the canal on Muktsar-Kotakpura road… Administration teams are present at the spot… I am getting information about the rescue operations every moment… May God bless everyone. Give good health.

Shortly after the accident, NDRF teams also reached the spot and immediately started rescue operations. Due to which further loss of life was saved.
