Bureau Report: Photo of Opposition Leader in Punjab Pratap Singh Bajwa has been used by a person in an objectionable advertisement. Pratap Singh Bajwa has filed an FIR in Chandigarh Sector 17 as soon as he got the information. On the other hand, Bajwa has termed it as an attempt to defame him by the opponents.
A print out of the Facebook post along with the complaint, in which his photo has been used, has also been placed in Chandigarh’s Sector 17 police station. After receiving the complaint, the police have started trying to trace the IP address of the person who posted that post.
Currently, the police have registered a case under sections 419, 469 (forgery and attempt to defame by using IT) and 500 (defamation) of the IPC and section 66C (misuse of identity) of the Information Act. Currently, a complaint has been filed by Pratap Singh Bajwa.
Bajwa wrote this in the complaint
MLA from Kadi and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa has said in the complaint that ‘a post was found on Facebook in which my pictures were used for objectionable advertisement. My image has been misused in such a way that it looks like the advertiser has taken some medicine. This post is being shared on social media, the person who used my picture knows very well that I have never done it like this. Whoever has done this act is also aware of my real identity, because I am a celebrity, a member of parliament and an MLA. So this may be a cheap trick of my political opponents or people working on their behest. So that I can be defamed. To demolish my image.’
