PM Modi tweeted about this and wrote, “Our government is committed to fulfill every resolution related to the welfare of our farmer brothers and sisters across the country. In the same vein, a historic increase in the procurement price of sugarcane has been approved. This step will benefit crores of our sugarcane farmers.”
Let us tell you that on Wednesday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi had given the right to increase the price of sugarcane to Rs 340 per quintal at the 10.25 percent recovery rate of sugar for the Chinese season 2024-25. This is the historical price of sugarcane which is about 8 percent higher than the sugarcane FRP for the current season 2023-24. The revised FRP will come into effect from October 1, 2024.
