Chandigarh, February 19: A free multi-speciality medical check-up camp for the rural people was organised by the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Free Polyclinic Trust at Perch village on Sunday. The camp was organised in association with a Chandigarh-based private hospital that deputed various specialist doctors to the camp.
Manish Tewari, Member Parliament, Anandpur Sahib, was the chief guest on the occasion and was impressed with the quality of the services and facilities of Path Lab, physiotherapy centre, dental clinic, eye clinic and other facilities at the polyclinic. Tewari promised to provide an ambulance or a digital X-ray machine to the polyclinic.
More than 150 patients, mostly senior citizens, availed services at the camp, said Balbir Singh Mohali, chairman of the trust. “As many as 135 patients were checked for diabetes and 130 for blood pressure. Besides, 45 patients were checked for eye ailments, 22 for eye refraction and 15 for dental problems. To check for osteoporosis, bone density test was also conducted on visitors. For skin infections, a team of homoeopathy doctors was also present at the campsite,” added Balbir Singh.

BS Anand, chairman of the ‘Camp Project’, said all patients were given medicines free of cost and the follow-up treatment would also be free of cost at the polyclinic. Dr Jagriti Bahuguna managed the paramedical staff and a team of volunteers, headed by Paramvir Singh of Parchh village, gave their crucial services at the camp.
Run by the trust, the polyclinic has been offering quality medical services free of cost to the needy for over two decades. “It caters to nearly 40 nearby villages and has proved a boon to thousands of people living there. The polyclinic also offers dental care OPD services. A dental surgeon will also offer his services at the camp,” said Balbir Singh.
