Orders for early rationalization of Panchayat Department staff

Punjab News: Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has said that the staff will be rationalized soon to speed up the work at the lower level in the department.

The Cabinet Minister said that it has come to his attention that in many districts the staff is deployed in excess and many districts are not able to do their work in a timely manner due to lack of staff.

Laljit Singh Bhullar, Finance Commissioner of the Department K. Siva Prasad and Director Gurpreet Singh Khaira have been directed to provide the staff lists of all the wings immediately within two days so that the required number of staff can be sent to all the districts.

Rural Development and Panchayat Minister said that regular 73 BDPOs are working in total 153 blocks of the state while BDPO 80 posts are vacant. Similarly, no Senior Assistant (Accounts) is posted in 97 blocks.

The Cabinet Minister has also sought the lists of DDPOs and BDPOs sitting in the same district for several years from the higher officials. Along with this, the officials have also been asked to provide the number of vacancies to be filled through direct and promotion of BDPOs and to make arrangements to fill them up at the earliest.
