Onions may once again make you cry in the coming festive season. Onion prices are expected to remain high during October-November as unseasonal monsoon may delay the arrival of the crop.
This is stated in a report by Crisil Research. In it It is said that the kharif Prices are likely to go up due to delay in arrival of the crop and short lifespan of goods kept in buffer stocks due to cyclonic parrots.
According to the report, “Onion prices are expected to increase by more than 100 per cent this year as compared to 2018.” Prices are expected to cross Rs 30 per kg in kharif 2021 due to challenges in sowing crops in Maharashtra. However, due to the high kharif 2020 base, it will be slightly lower year on year (1-5 per cent).
