District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Ali Sabbar told that on the occasion of Holi, about 5 tonnes of mutton and 3 tonnes of chicken were consumed in the capital. He also said that after Basiora its figures will increase further. here, According to the mutton traders, mutton worth about Rs 4 crore was sold. Akhilesh, a mutton trader told that the price of mutton on Holi ranged from Rs 700 to 800 per kg.

In order to get fresh mutton to the people, the traders had already brought goats in many consignments and kept them in the shops. Non-veg traders also told that apart from mutton, many people also liked to eat chicken on the day of Holi, so the business of chicken was also good.

Apart from mutton and meat, vegetarian people also celebrated the festival of Holi with many dishes. Maximum crowd was seen at jackfruit shops in the vegetable market. The price of jackfruit, which is called the meat of vegetarians, ranged from 60 to 100 rupees per kg in different markets. Apart from this, flour, sugar, semolina, mustard oil, refined, onion and garlic were also sold on a large scale.
