Ola Electric preparing to launch its first electric car next year

Ola Electric, one of the largest electric two-wheeler makers, has prepared to increase its contribution to environment-friendly transportation. The company may launch its first electric car in the second quarter of next year. The design of this electric car is being finalized.

Bloomberg quoted the company’s Chief Financial Officer, GR Arun Kumar, as saying that Ola Electric will get some benefit from the technology being used in its two-wheelers. “Many things like the software, electronics and safety systems will be the same,” he added. Kumar said that the company is working towards meeting the target of 100 GWh battery cell manufacturing through local plants. Last year, company founder Bhavish Aggarwal had said that Ola Electric aims to launch its first car for less than $50,000.

In this, some hints were given about the exterior and interior of this electric car. It gets a unique and modern design steering wheel. The two-spoke design features jet styled steering mounted controls with the OLA logo in the centre. It gets cameras instead of rearview mirrors, which will help in aerodynamics. There is a large infotainment screen in the middle which could be over 12 inches. The layout of the dashboard looks good and it also gets ambient lighting.

The exterior gets air intakes on both sides of the front bumper for the front brakes. It gets an LED strip along the bonnet running the full width of the front, while the LED DRL units have been reduced to just two strips on each side. Its back side is almost similar to the front. It gets bigger surfaces for the bumper and rear fenders which houses the LED strip tail light. The company says that this electric car will be able to give a range of more than 500 kilometers in full charge. The company claims that it will accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4 seconds.
