“More than half of our Punjab remained in Pakistan, not a single word came out from the governments”

Amritsar: Millions of Punjabis who lost their lives during the partition of India-Pakistan on 15 August 1947 were remembered at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. In this regard, a special prayer ceremony was held today at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, in which tributes were paid to the lakhs of people who were killed during the partition of the country. Before this, Sri Akhand Path Sahib ji’s indulgences were offered and the ragi jathas present at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan.

Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Ji Giani Sultan Singh said that many lost their lives during the partition of the country and many people have suffered the pain of displacement. The land of Punjab was bled and nearly 10 lakh people were killed.

Blaming the governments, they said that the people who are intoxicated with power are celebrating independence but they did not even utter two words of tribute to the people who were killed and displaced during the partition of India and Pakistan.

Jathedar reminded the ruling government and said that where there was loss of life and money at the time of partition, Punjab suffered the biggest loss which has not been recovered till date. Expressing sorrow, he said that today more than half of Punjab has remained in Pakistan, our historical Gurudhams remained in Pakistan like Gurdwara Shri Nankana Sahib Ji, Gurdwara Shri Chuna Mandi Lahore, Sher-e-Punjab Punjab of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji. The royal fort also remained in Pakistan.

The Jathedar said that according to the orders of Shri Akal Takht Sahib Ji in the past, a function is organized in memory of the innocent martyrs killed in the riots on August 16.
