Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Mann and Deputy Kashner Ashika Jain today visited SAS to take stock of crop damage due to unseasonal rains. Visited different villages of the city.

The cabinet minister said that the Bhagwant Maan government is completely with the farmers in this crisis. He said that the Punjab government has given orders to the Girdavari for compensation of the crops. The concerned Deputy Commissioners have been asked to immediately conduct special vigils in the rain-affected areas so that damage can be ascertained on a priority basis.

Anmol Gagan Mann said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a 25 percent increase in crop damage compensation giving a big relief to the farmers of the state. He also said that if the crop loss is more than 75 percent, the state government will compensate the farmers at the rate of Rs 15,000 per acre.

He said that if the damage is from 33 to 75 percent, the farmers will be compensated at the rate of Rs. 6750 per acre. He said that 10 percent compensation will be given to the laborers so that they do not face any financial difficulties. He said that the Aam Aadmi government has always supported the farmers and their rights and the government has taken many worthy steps to protect the interests of the farmers.

He said that incessant rains are harmful to standing wheat and other crops of rabi. He said that unfortunately the rains accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms have caused a lot of damage to the crops and hurt the livelihood of a large number of farmers.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain told the minister that the work of Girdavari has started in the district and the officials have been instructed to complete this work within the time limits. On this occasion, SDM of Kharar. Ravinder Singh was also present.
