Maruti Suzuki Semiconductor Crisis: If you want to buy a new car from Maruti Suzuki, then you may have to face an increasing waiting period. Maruti Suzuki India says that there will be a shortage of semiconductors for the coming three months, due to which the delivery of some models may take some time. The country’s largest automobile manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India believes that the shortage of semiconductors still persists and this problem may continue for the next few quarters. Maruti Suzuki said that the shortage of semiconductors will further delay the delivery of certain models of the company.
The country’s leading vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) believes that the semiconductor shortage is likely to persist for the next few quarters, further delaying the supply of certain models.
MSE senior executive officer (sales and marketing) Shashank Srivastava said that the supply of semiconductors still remains a problem. He said, in the last quarter, 46,000 units had to be lost due to semiconductor. This problem persists for some models in this quarter as well.
Maruti Suzuki has 3.69 lakh units of bookings pending, of which the Ertiga model alone has bookings of 94,000 units. Apart from this, popular models like Grand Vitara and Brezza also have more than 37,000 and 61,500 bookings respectively.
Semiconductor chips are used prominently in modern-day vehicles. In such a situation, due to non-availability of these chips, vehicles are also not supplied. Semiconductor availability has remained a problem for the last three years.
The problem of MSI not being able to get semiconductors is likely to persist even further. Srivastava said, it is very difficult to predict when the situation will be normal. The reason for this is that nothing like this is visible right now.
He said that SUVs have taken a leading role in the country’s passenger vehicle market with a 42.6 per cent share. He said that by the end of the current financial year, the figure of sales of passenger vehicles can go up to 38.8 lakh units, which will be a record till now. In the last financial year, 30.7 lakh passenger vehicles were sold. (with language input)
