The impact of the ongoing violence in Manipur has reached Mizoram. The Meeti community living here has started migrating out of fear. 40 people have come to Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Thousands of people are forced to flee. An associate of the former militant organization Mizo National Front said that the sentiments of the Mizo community have been hurt at this juncture. Therefore, in view of security, Metei people living in Mizoram should leave the state.
The Manipur government says it will evacuate its Metis by flight. Mizoram Home Secretary met Meiti community leaders and assured them of security. But the Mizo organizations have announced to hold a rally against the Meeti people in the capital Aizawl today. About 1,500 Meeti families live and work in Mizoram.
