Manpreet Badal reached vigilance office in Bathinda, interrogation continues

Bathinda: Former Finance Minister Manpreet Badal reached the vigilance office today in the matter of plot purchase in Model Town Phase One. He along with his lawyer Advocate Sukhdeep Singh reached Vigilance Office to appear at Vigilance Bureau Bathinda.

The vigilance team has closed the door of his office and started questioning Manpreet Badal. It is being told that a list of questions has also been prepared by Vigilance to interrogate Manpreet Badal, in which Manpreet Badal will be questioned about plot purchase and other matters.

It may be mentioned that the Vigilance Bureau Bathinda has issued summons to the former Finance Minister and BJP leader Manpreet Badal for the second time and ordered him to appear in the office of the Vigilance Bureau Range Bathinda on October 31.

Earlier, Vigilance Bureau had issued summons to Manpreet Badal to appear on October 23 but he did not appear citing back pain. There, PGI Chandigarh submitted a certificate of bed rest for a week to the Vigilance Bureau through its lawyer and email. Along with this, Manpreet Badal also submitted his passport to the Vigilance Bureau on the orders of the High Court.

Meanwhile, Manpreet Singh Badal’s lawyer Sukhdeep Singh Bhinder said that Manpreet Singh Badal has been suffering from back pain for a long time, due to which he is unable to walk. Advocate Bhinder said that he is undergoing treatment at PGI Chandigarh.

Manpreet Badal’s lawyer had appealed to the officials of the Vigilance Bureau that they can go to his residence in Chandigarh and make inquiries. It may be mentioned that on October 16, the High Court had granted anticipatory bail to Manpreet Badal, but many important facts have come to light in this case, about which it is very important to question Manpreet Badal. Therefore, the Vigilance Bureau asked him to appear on October 31 to join the re-examination.

It is to be mentioned that on September 24, the Vigilance Bureau Bathinda registered a case under various sections against half a dozen persons including Manpreet Badal. In which it was alleged that Manpreet Badal, while being the Finance Minister, had bought two plots of 1560 yards with his influence in the city’s Model Town Phase One area in the year 2021.

According to the Vigilance investigation, the former finance minister embezzled Rs 65 lakh from the Punjab government treasury by buying this plot. In this conspiracy case, vigilance has been ordered against three associates of Manpreet, hotel owner Rajeev Kumar, businessman Vikas Arora and Amandeep, an employee of a liquor contractor. were arrested by, who are currently in jail, while then BDA officer Bikramjit Singh Shergill, Superintendent Pankaj Kalia are still absconding. His anticipatory bail plea has been rejected by the Bathinda court.
