The Khals Bureau: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today handed over checks of Rs 1.20 lakh as compensation to farmers whose houses collapsed due to heavy rains and hailstorms.
Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang called this decision of Chief Minister Hon a historic decision. Addressing a press conference, Kang said that it is happening for the first time in the history of Punjab that a Chief Minister has started giving compensation to the farmers of the state after realizing the pain.
Kang said that 20 days ago from today, the Chief Minister talked about giving compensation and even before 20 days, Chief Minister Mann has fulfilled his promise. He said that his government has implemented the Girdauri system with transparency, before this only people of familiarity in the villages were getting compensation due to the connivance of the officers.
Kang said that this time farmers have been exempted from paying the limit of cooperative banks. He said that the government is for the time of crisis. Farmers will be able to fill this limit if they are worry free. Kang said that the Punjab government has frozen the loans of cooperative banks to the farmers to the tune of 7 thousand 625 crores till the financial situation of the farmers is taken care of. Kang said that with this neither the farmer needs to pay the loan nor will any interest be charged on it.
Kang said that the Punjab government has increased the compensation of 75 to 100% crop damage to Rs 15,000 per acre and 33% crop damage to Rs 6,800 per acre to remove them from the scourge of nature. Kang said that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government always takes decisions in the interests of the people and will continue to take decisions in favor of the people.
Responding to a question about increased security in view of Baisakhi, Kang said that security has been increased throughout Punjab in view of Baisakhi so that no mischievous and wrong elements can succeed in their plans on the occasion of Baisakhi and wrong elements. Avoid going out in the open. A peaceful atmosphere can be maintained.
