“However, like any other food, all the nutritional value of maize bread depends on how it is prepared and served. It should be served with a nutritious side dish like dal, vegetables or salad and should be accompanied in moderation with high-calorie items like ghee and jaggery.”

Shikha Kumari says that it is important to note that makki ki roti is relatively high in calories and carbohydrates compared to other types of bread. It is usually served with rich and flavourful accompaniments such as sarson ka saag, ghee (butter) and jaggery (unrefined cane sugar), which can increase its calorie content.
