MumbaiMaharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday defended outgoing Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, saying some of his comments were misinterpreted. He alleged that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), an alliance comprising the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Congress and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, was particularly hostile towards Koshyari.

The senior leader told reporters, “Bhagat Singh Koshyari had stopped the Maha Vikas Aghadi, so its leaders especially had a grudge against Koshyari. Koshyari had already expressed his desire to relinquish his responsibilities and now the central government has accepted his resignation. His performance as the Governor of Maharashtra has been excellent.”
