Mohali, February 20: After the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Ludhiana police on Monday arrested sacked Punjab DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon.

Notably, then Ferozepur City DSP (headquarters), Balwinder Singh Sekhon is facing a drug bribery case involving key BJP leaders.

In a video message before his arrest, he said,”The police have reached my house after HC warrants. It is natural. But I leave it to people to decide what is right or wrong. But if anything happened to me, I want to make it clear that former DGP Suresh Arora, NIA chief Dinker Gupta and Justice Surya Kant will be responsible for the same.” He added that “I will continue my fight after coming out of custody.”

During the hearing in the case last week, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had issued a contempt notice to sacked Punjab DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon for “making comments against the judges of the HC”.

During the hearing of the drugs case last week, the Punjab and Haryana High Court said it had come to its notice that the sacked DSP had been circulating videos pertaining to the judicial proceedings that were being conducted by other judges.

Sekhon had filed a writ petition in 2021 challenging his dismissal order dated May 28, 2021.
