It contains high fiber and low sugar. There is 6.9 grams of sugar in 100 grams of papaya. Pairing it with a source of protein or healthy fat provides more health benefits. For example, combining papaya with nuts or seeds can help balance blood sugar levels and provide sustained energy.

Low GI foods are between 20 and 49, while foods with a glycemic index of 50- 69 are medium GI foods. High GI foods are between 70 -100.
