According to reports, the student confirmed that he was attacked by a group of four to five Khalistani supporters. He said that he works as a truck driver. In the morning, when he got into his truck, some people reached there and attacked the student. One of the assailants opened the door of the truck and attacked him on his left cheek with an iron rod, after which the others started beating him. The student said some of them allegedly made a video recording of the incident.
NSW Police gave this statement
A person witnessing the incident alerted the NSW Police who immediately arrived at the scene. NSW Police officers immediately called paramedics to the scene and the victim was taken to Westmead Hospital with serious injuries to his head, leg and arm.
“Shortly after 5.40am on Friday 14 July 2023, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended Rupert Street, Marylands West following reports of an assault,” a NSW Police spokesperson said in the statement.
The MP condemned the attack
Andrew Charlton, Member of Parliament for Parramatta and the Maryland Suburbs, reacted to the incident, saying, “There is no place for extremism or violence of any kind in our local community. I have contacted the concerned authorities about the incident and will do so as the situation unfolds. I will keep an eye on it. I am with the victims and their families in this hour of crisis.’
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that Khalistan supporters have terrorized an Indian student based in Sydney for opposing their separatist ideology. They have done such actions before.
