Punjab Horticulture Minister Chetan Singh Jaudamajra has appealed to the farmers to give preference to cultivation of cash crops including mushroom cultivation and horticulture along with traditional crops to increase their income.
Jaudamajra visited the Highline Foods mushroom farm located on Samana-Rajla road and encouraged the mushroom producers Gaurav Jindal, Amit Garg (Gurdas), Sonu Bansal and Sikandveer Jindal and said that the Punjab government is committed to support such progressive entrepreneurs in every way. So that such entrepreneurs can increase their income and also provide employment to other people.
Chetan Singh Jaudamajra, who also holds the portfolios of Information and Public Relations, Defense Services Welfare and Freedom Fighters, also inaugurated the newly installed 250 KW solar plant at Highline Foods Mushroom Farm. He inspected the mushroom farm here by visiting packing, production and other units.
On this occasion, Jaudamajra said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has provided an enabling environment in all respects for new entrepreneurs to invest in the state and set up their units. He said that the horticulture department has drawn up many schemes for training, subsidy and technical assistance etc. for the farmers, by taking advantage of which the farmers can become good gardeners, good producers of cash crops and mushrooms.
Mushroom grower Gaurav Jindal said that he started this air-conditioned plant in 4 acres, where 3 tons of mushrooms are produced and they prepare their own fertilizer, which they use to grow mushrooms. After taking 6 crops in a year, the remaining fertilizer is given to the farmers for further use in the fields.
On this occasion OSD Advocate Gulzar Singh Virak, Gurdev Singh Tiwana, Balkar Singh Gajjumajra, Surjit Singh Ghajipur, Agarwal Dharamshala President Madan Mittal, Bal Krishna and other dignitaries were also present.
