Japanese PM reached Kiev to support Ukraine, Russia dropped bomb on hostel, 4 killed

Kyiv. Russia launched a drone strike early Wednesday that killed at least four people at a hostel near Kiev. The attack came hours after Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida left the Ukrainian capital. Kishida had come to express his support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping returned from Russia after discussing his proposal to end the war. Western countries have rejected this proposal as useless. Local officials said a high school and two dormitories were partially destroyed in an overnight drone strike in Rzhichiv, south of the Ukrainian capital. It is not yet clear how many people died in the hostel at that time.

The body of a 40-year-old man was pulled from the rubble on the fifth floor of a hostel, according to regional police chief Andril Nebitov. He said that more than 20 people were admitted to the hospital and there was no confirmation about some others. The Ukrainian General Staff said that the Ukrainian Air Force shot down 16 of the 21 drones fired by Russia. Eight of these were killed near the capital. Other drones were dropped in the Khmelnitsky province. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted, ‘More than 20 Iranian killer drones, missiles attacked in just one night. Whenever someone wants an exercise to listen to world peace in Moscow, another order is given for such criminal attacks.

President of G-7 and PM of Japan gave support
Japan’s Prime Minister and chairman of the G-7 grouping, Fumio Kishida, made a surprise visit to Kiev on Tuesday and expressed support for Zelensky’s government at a time when his Asian rival Xi pledged support for Putin. A day after his visit to Kiev, Kishida traveled to Poland and held talks with its President Mattiasz Morawiecki on the region’s security and bilateral ties. Poland is providing military, humanitarian and political aid to neighboring Ukraine, which is facing Russian aggression. Kishida’s visit to Ukraine is being considered very meaningful for the country in terms of Japan’s support in the future. The top spokesperson of the Government of Japan said this on Wednesday.
