Jagtar Singh Hawara will not have a physical appearance today, it will be presented through video conferencing

Jagtar Singh Hawara, a member of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), convicted in the murder case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, may be produced in the Mohali court today. This time the production of accused may be done physically instead of video-conferencing.

On the other hand, Mohali Police is also fully alert in view of security due to Hawara’s physical presence. The National Justice Morcha has been protesting on the Chandigarh-Mohali border since January 7 for the release of the imprisoned Sikhs. And Hawara has been demanded to appear physically in the court.

While hearing the criminal case registered in Thana Sadar Kharar
A criminal case registered in the year 2005 in the Sadar Kharar police station belonging to Hawara is being heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge of Mohali. Earlier, a discharge application was also filed in this case on behalf of Hawara. Punjab Police has opposed this application in its written reply. The application was filed by Hawara’s lawyer on August 2, 2021 in a nearly 18-year-old case.

A case was registered against Jagtar Singh Hawara along with Parvinder Singh, Swaran Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Paramjit Singh. According to the case registered on 15 June 2005 in Kharar police station, weapons and RDX were recovered from the arrest of the accused. Of these, 8.350 kg of RDX, 1.9 kg of paint yellow and live cartridges of AK-47 have been recovered. Opposing Hawara’s application in the Mohali court, the police had said that there is enough evidence to convict the accused in the case. In this case the application should be rejected.
